About Sterling Elementary School

Sterling Elementary will continue to support our school-wide initiative—Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports (PBIS). PBIS helps to create a safe and productive learning environment so that teachers can more effectively engage students for learning. It includes school-wide procedures and rules intended for both students and staff in all settings. This year we will be focusing on hallway behavior. You will see these rules posted throughout the school and we encourage you to discuss this rules at home with your child.

The goal is to catch students and provide them with positive feedback on their behavior to create an environment that supports learning. We hope that you will support the program and help your child get “SPOTTED”. Remember we celebrate “SPOT" behavior with fun quarterly rewards like SPOT TROTs, staff talent shows, and the "decorate the principal and assistant principal" event (see picture below). Monthly SPOT rewards are announced on the morning news show.

Sterling Elementary PTA:

The Sterling Elementary PTA is organized to support and benefit the education of students at Sterling Elementary. Members of the PTA are parents and teachers who are committed to making our school the best it can be. The Sterling Elementary PTA organizes fundraising efforts and works to improve our students' educational experience through specific initiatives:

Student Enrichment

First and foremost we are here to enhance the education of our students. Each year, the PTA provides enrichment funds to help cover costs of supplies and resources for the administration, grade level teachers, and special programs.

Classroom and Teacher Support

The Sterling PTA provides a number of support initiatives throughout the year. Each year we support fieldtrips, supplies reimbursement and Teacher Appreciation Week. We also support Books in the classroom for Independent Reading, the annual Dare Program and the Jamestown Fieldtrip.

Community Building Events

The Sterling PTA organizes several community building events throughout the year. These events provide fun activities for the entire family to share and are aimed to build strong bonds between students, parents and staff.
